महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-5, chapter-186, verse-11

क्षत्रियस्य तु धर्मोऽयं यद्युद्धं भृगुनन्दन ।
स्वाध्यायो व्रतचर्या च ब्राह्मणानां परं धनम् ॥११॥
11. kṣatriyasya tu dharmo'yaṁ yadyuddhaṁ bhṛgunandana ,
svādhyāyo vratacaryā ca brāhmaṇānāṁ paraṁ dhanam.

svādhyāyaḥ vratacaryā ca brāhmaṇānām param dhanam
11. bhṛgunandana,
kṣatriyasya tu ayam dharmaḥ yat yuddham; ca brāhmaṇānām svādhyāyaḥ vratacaryā param dhanam.
11. O son of Bhrigu, this indeed is the duty (dharma) of a kṣatriya: battle. And for brahmins, the highest wealth is the study of sacred texts and the observance of vows.
