महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-4, chapter-55, verse-22

ततोऽस्याश्वाञ्शरैस्तीक्ष्णैर्बीभत्सुर्भारसाधनैः ।
आकर्णमुक्तैरभ्यघ्नंस्ते हताः प्रापतन्भुवि ॥२२॥
22. tato'syāśvāñśaraistīkṣṇairbībhatsurbhārasādhanaiḥ ,
ākarṇamuktairabhyaghnaṁste hatāḥ prāpatanbhuvi.
22. tataḥ asya aśvān śaraiḥ tīkṣṇaiḥ bībhatsuḥ bhārasādhanaiḥ
ākarṇamuktaiḥ abhyaghnan te hatāḥ prāpatan bhuvi
22. Then, Bibhatsu (Arjuna) struck Karṇa's horses with sharp arrows, shot with full force (ākarṇamuktaiḥ) and effective in battle (bhārasādhanaiḥ). Killed, those horses fell to the ground.
