महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-4, chapter-52, verse-1

वैशंपायन उवाच ।
एतस्मिन्नन्तरे तत्र महावीर्यपराक्रमः ।
आजगाम महासत्त्वः कृपः शस्त्रभृतां वरः ।
अर्जुनं प्रति संयोद्धुं युद्धार्थी स महारथः ॥१॥
1. vaiśaṁpāyana uvāca ,
etasminnantare tatra mahāvīryaparākramaḥ ,
ājagāma mahāsattvaḥ kṛpaḥ śastrabhṛtāṁ varaḥ ,
arjunaṁ prati saṁyoddhuṁ yuddhārthī sa mahārathaḥ.
1. vaiśampāyana uvāca etasmin antare tatra
mahāvīryaparākramaḥ ājagāma mahāsattvaḥ
kṛpaḥ śastrabhṛtām varaḥ arjunam
prati saṃyoddhum yuddhārthī saḥ mahārathaḥ
1. Vaiśampāyana said: At that moment, Kṛpa arrived there, a man of great fortitude and immense valor and might, the foremost among those who bear weapons. That great chariot-warrior, eager for battle, came to fight against Arjuna.
