महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-199, verse-5

ओषध्यो वीरुधश्चापि पशवो मृगपक्षिणः ।
अन्नाद्यभूता लोकस्य इत्यपि श्रूयते श्रुतिः ॥५॥
5. oṣadhyo vīrudhaścāpi paśavo mṛgapakṣiṇaḥ ,
annādyabhūtā lokasya ityapi śrūyate śrutiḥ.
5. oṣadhyaḥ vīrudhaḥ ca api paśavaḥ mṛgapakṣiṇaḥ
| annādyabhūtāḥ lokasya iti api śrūyate śrutiḥ
5. Herbs, plants, and also cattle, wild animals, and birds have become food for humankind (lokasya) – thus indeed is what is heard in the sacred texts (śruti).
