महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-152, verse-9

न हि याचन्ति राजान एष धर्मः सनातनः ।
न चाहं हातुमिच्छामि क्षात्रधर्मं कथंचन ॥९॥
9. na hi yācanti rājāna eṣa dharmaḥ sanātanaḥ ,
na cāhaṁ hātumicchāmi kṣātradharmaṁ kathaṁcana.
9. na hi yācanti rājānaḥ eṣaḥ dharmaḥ sanātanaḥ na
ca aham hātum icchāmi kṣātradharmam kathaṃcana
9. Indeed, kings do not beg; this is an eternal natural law (dharma). And I certainly do not wish to abandon the warrior's duty (kṣātradharma) by any means.
