वैशंपायन उवाच ।
एवं सा रजनी तेषामाश्रमे पुण्यकर्मणाम् ।
शिवा नक्षत्रसंपन्ना सा व्यतीयाय भारत ॥१॥

evaṁ sā rajanī teṣāmāśrame puṇyakarmaṇām ,
śivā nakṣatrasaṁpannā sā vyatīyāya bhārata.

1. Vaiśampāyana said: "Thus, that night passed for them, the performers of righteous (karma) deeds, in the hermitage. It was an auspicious night, adorned with stars, O Bhārata."
