महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-15, chapter-15, verse-1

वैशंपायन उवाच ।
एवमुक्तास्तु ते तेन पौरजानपदा जनाः ।
वृद्धेन राज्ञा कौरव्य नष्टसंज्ञा इवाभवन् ॥१॥
1. vaiśaṁpāyana uvāca ,
evamuktāstu te tena paurajānapadā janāḥ ,
vṛddhena rājñā kauravya naṣṭasaṁjñā ivābhavan.
1. vaiśaṃpāyana uvāca evam uktāḥ tu te tena paurajānapadāḥ
janāḥ vṛddhena rājñā kauravya naṣṭasaṃjñāḥ iva abhavan
1. vaiśaṃpāyana uvāca kauravya! tena vṛddhena rājñā evam

1. Vaiśaṃpāyana said: 'O scion of Kuru, when those citizens and country folk were thus addressed by that aged king, they became as if deprived of their consciousness.'
