महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-14, chapter-5, verse-7

वासवोऽप्यसुरान्सर्वान्निर्जित्य च निहत्य च ।
इन्द्रत्वं प्राप्य लोकेषु ततो वव्रे पुरोहितम् ।
पुत्रमङ्गिरसो ज्येष्ठं विप्रश्रेष्ठं बृहस्पतिम् ॥७॥
7. vāsavo'pyasurānsarvānnirjitya ca nihatya ca ,
indratvaṁ prāpya lokeṣu tato vavre purohitam ,
putramaṅgiraso jyeṣṭhaṁ vipraśreṣṭhaṁ bṛhaspatim.
7. vāsavaḥ api asurān sarvān nirjitya ca
nihatya ca indratvam prāpya lokeṣu
tataḥ vavre purohitam putram aṅgirasaḥ
jyeṣṭham vipra-śreṣṭham bṛhaspatim
7. Having conquered and slain all the asuras (demons), Vāsava (Indra) also attained the position of Indra in the worlds. Then he chose as his preceptor (purohita) the elder son of Angiras, Bṛhaspati, who was the foremost among brahmins.
