तस्य पुत्रो महेष्वासः प्रजातिरिति विश्रुतः ॥२॥

Vyāsa said: Formerly, in the Kṛtayuga, there was a powerful Manu, who held the scepter of justice. His son, a great archer, was renowned as Prajāti.
