महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-14, chapter-4, verse-12

तस्य धर्मप्रवृत्तस्य व्यशीर्यत्कोशवाहनम् ।
तं क्षीणकोशं सामन्ताः समन्तात्पर्यपीडयन् ॥१२॥
12. tasya dharmapravṛttasya vyaśīryatkośavāhanam ,
taṁ kṣīṇakośaṁ sāmantāḥ samantātparyapīḍayan.

12. While he was devoted to his natural law (dharma), his treasury and military strength dwindled. Consequently, neighboring kings, seeing his depleted treasury, harassed him from all sides.
