महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-13, chapter-50, verse-22

स मुनिस्तत्तदा दृष्ट्वा मत्स्यानां कदनं कृतम् ।
बभूव कृपयाविष्टो निःश्वसंश्च पुनः पुनः ॥२२॥
22. sa munistattadā dṛṣṭvā matsyānāṁ kadanaṁ kṛtam ,
babhūva kṛpayāviṣṭo niḥśvasaṁśca punaḥ punaḥ.
22. saḥ muniḥ tat tadā dṛṣṭvā matsyānām kadanam kṛtam
babhūva kṛpayā āviṣṭaḥ niḥśvasan ca punaḥ punaḥ

kṛpayā āviṣṭaḥ babhūva ca punaḥ punaḥ niḥśvasan
22. Seeing the slaughter of the fish that had occurred, that sage was then overcome with compassion and sighed again and again.
