महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-13, chapter-140, verse-13

एवं दग्धा भगवता दानवाः स्वेन तेजसा ।
अगस्त्येन तदा राजंस्तपसा भावितात्मना ॥१३॥
13. evaṁ dagdhā bhagavatā dānavāḥ svena tejasā ,
agastyena tadā rājaṁstapasā bhāvitātmanā.

13. Thus, O King (rājan), the Dānavas (a class of asuras) were destroyed then by the venerable Agastya, whose self (ātman) was cultivated by ascetic practice (tapas), through his own spiritual energy.
