महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-12, chapter-89, verse-12

उपायान्प्रब्रवीम्येतान्न मे माया विवक्षिता ।
अनुपायेन दमयन्प्रकोपयति वाजिनः ॥१२॥
12. upāyānprabravīmyetānna me māyā vivakṣitā ,
anupāyena damayanprakopayati vājinaḥ.

12. I declare these strategies; trickery (māyā) is not intended by me. One who attempts to tame (them) without proper means merely causes horses to become agitated.
