देवयानी नृपश्रेष्ठ पितरं वाक्यमब्रवीत् ॥२३॥

Vaiśampāyana said: O best of kings, when Vṛṣaparvan's daughter (Śarmiṣṭhā) had agreed to be her servant, Devayānī then spoke to her father.
