महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-1, chapter-211, verse-6

पौराश्च पादचारेण यानैरुच्चावचैस्तथा ।
सदाराः सानुयात्राश्च शतशोऽथ सहस्रशः ॥६॥
6. paurāśca pādacāreṇa yānairuccāvacaistathā ,
sadārāḥ sānuyātrāśca śataśo'tha sahasraśaḥ.
6. paurāḥ ca pādacāreṇa yānaiḥ uccāvacaiḥ tathā
sadārāḥ sānuyātrāḥ ca śataśaḥ atha sahasraśaḥ
6. And the citizens, on foot and in various conveyances, accompanied by their wives and entourages, by hundreds and then by thousands.
