महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-1, chapter-211, verse-21

वासुदेव उवाच ।
स्वयंवरः क्षत्रियाणां विवाहः पुरुषर्षभ ।
स च संशयितः पार्थ स्वभावस्यानिमित्ततः ॥२१॥
21. vāsudeva uvāca ,
svayaṁvaraḥ kṣatriyāṇāṁ vivāhaḥ puruṣarṣabha ,
sa ca saṁśayitaḥ pārtha svabhāvasyānimittataḥ.
21. vāsudeva uvāca | svayaṃvaraḥ kṣatriyāṇām vivāhaḥ puruṣarṣabha
| saḥ ca saṃśayitaḥ pārtha svabhāvasya animittataḥ
21. Vāsudeva (Krishna) said, 'O best among men (Arjuna), a self-choice (svayaṃvara) is the [proper] marriage for kṣatriyas. But that [method], O Pārtha (Arjuna), is uncertain due to its unpredictable nature.'
