महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-1, chapter-154, verse-1

ब्राह्मण उवाच ।
गङ्गाद्वारं प्रति महान्बभूवर्षिर्महातपाः ।
भरद्वाजो महाप्राज्ञः सततं संशितव्रतः ॥१॥
1. brāhmaṇa uvāca ,
gaṅgādvāraṁ prati mahānbabhūvarṣirmahātapāḥ ,
bharadvājo mahāprājñaḥ satataṁ saṁśitavrataḥ.

1. The brahmin said: "Near Gangadvāra lived a great sage (ṛṣi) of profound spiritual discipline (tapas), Bharadvaja, who was exceedingly wise and always steadfast in his vows."
