स चाप्यपञ्चभूतात्मा पञ्चभूतात्मकोपमः ।
विराडात्मैकपुरुषः परमः परमेश्वरः ॥ १८ ॥

18. And indeed, that one is an essence (ātman) not composed of the five gross elements, yet he is comparable to one whose nature is the five elements. He is the one cosmic person (puruṣa), the universal Self (ātman), the Supreme (parama), the Supreme Lord (parameśvara).
