वाल्मीकि-रामायणम्       vālmīki-rāmāyaṇam - book-5, chapter-63, verse-23

जीवितं धारयिष्यामि मासं दशरथात्मज ।
ऊर्ध्वं मासान्न जीवेयं रक्षसां वशमागता ॥२३॥
23. jīvitaṃ dhārayiṣyāmi māsaṃ daśarathātmaja ,
ūrdhvaṃ māsānna jīveyaṃ rakṣasāṃ vaśamāgatā.

ūrdhvam māsāt na jīveyam rakṣasām vaśam āgatā

23. O son of Daśaratha, I shall sustain my life for a month. After that month, having come under the control of the [rakṣasa]s, I would not be able to live.
