वाल्मीकि-रामायणम्       vālmīki-rāmāyaṇam - book-1, chapter-44, verse-15

ततस्तेषां नरश्रेष्ठ बुद्धिरासीन्महात्मनाम् ।
अमरा निर्जराश्चैव कथं स्याम निरामयाः ॥१५॥
15. tatasteṣāṃ naraśreṣṭha buddhirāsīnmahātmanām ,
amarā nirjarāścaiva kathaṃ syāma nirāmayāḥ.
15. tataḥ teṣām naraśreṣṭha buddhiḥ āsīt mahātmanām
amarāḥ nirjarāḥ ca eva katham syāma nirāmayāḥ
15. naraśreṣṭha tataḥ teṣām mahātmanām buddhiḥ āsīt [iti
yat] vayam katham amarāḥ nirjarāḥ ca eva nirāmayāḥ syāma
15. Then, O best among men, an idea occurred to those great-souled (ātman) beings: 'How may we become immortal, ageless, and free from all afflictions?'
