वाल्मीकि-रामायणम्       vālmīki-rāmāyaṇam - book-1, chapter-15, verse-8

स चाप्यपुत्रो नृपतिस्तस्मिन् काले महाद्युतिः ।
अयजत् पुत्रियामिष्टिं पुत्रेप्सुररिसूदनः ॥८॥
8. sa cāpyaputro nṛpatistasmin kāle mahādyutiḥ ,
ayajat putriyāmiṣṭiṃ putrepsurarisūdanaḥ.
8. saḥ ca api aputraḥ nṛpatiḥ tasmin kāle mahādyutiḥ
ayajat putriyām iṣṭim putrepsuḥ arisūdanaḥ
8. ca api saḥ aputraḥ mahādyutiḥ arisūdanaḥ nṛpatiḥ
tasmin kāle putrepsuḥ putriyām iṣṭim ayajat
8. And at that time, that illustrious king, a destroyer of enemies, who was without a son, desiring a son, performed a Vedic ritual (yajña) for offspring.
