महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-6, chapter-2, verse-8

वैशंपायन उवाच ।
तस्मिन्ननिच्छति द्रष्टुं संग्रामं श्रोतुमिच्छति ।
वराणामीश्वरो दाता संजयाय वरं ददौ ॥८॥
8. vaiśaṁpāyana uvāca ,
tasminnanicchati draṣṭuṁ saṁgrāmaṁ śrotumicchati ,
varāṇāmīśvaro dātā saṁjayāya varaṁ dadau.

8. Vaiśampāyana said: When (Dhṛtarāṣṭra) was unwilling to see the battle but desired to hear it, the lord and bestower of boons (Vyāsa) gave a boon to Saṃjaya.
