महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-5, chapter-177, verse-9

शरणागतां महाबाहो कन्यां न त्यक्तुमर्हसि ।
जहि भीष्मं रणे राम गर्जन्तमसुरं यथा ॥९॥
9. śaraṇāgatāṁ mahābāho kanyāṁ na tyaktumarhasi ,
jahi bhīṣmaṁ raṇe rāma garjantamasuraṁ yathā.
9. śaraṇāgatām mahābāho kanyām na tyaktum arhasi
jahi bhīṣmam raṇe rāma garjantam asuram yathā
9. mahābāho,
śaraṇāgatām kanyām na tyaktum arhasi rāma,
garjantam asuram yathā raṇe bhīṣmam jahi
9. "O mighty-armed one (mahābāho), you ought not to abandon the maiden (kanyā) who has sought refuge. Rāma, kill Bhīṣma in battle, just like one would kill a roaring demon (asura)."
