महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-15, chapter-16, verse-2

दैवं तत्तु विजानीमो यन्न शक्यं प्रबाधितुम् ।
दैवं पुरुषकारेण न शक्यमतिवर्तितुम् ॥२॥
2. daivaṁ tattu vijānīmo yanna śakyaṁ prabādhitum ,
daivaṁ puruṣakāreṇa na śakyamativartitum.
2. daivam tat tu vijānīmaḥ yat na śakyam prabādhitum
daivam puruṣakāreṇa na śakyam ativartitum
2. tat daivam tu vijānīmaḥ yat prabādhitum na
śakyam daivam puruṣakāreṇa ativartitum na śakyam
2. Indeed, we understand that to be fate (daiva), which cannot be obstructed. Fate cannot be overcome by human effort (puruṣakāra).
