महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-13, chapter-81, verse-13

सत्यश्च लोकवादोऽयं लोके चरति सुव्रताः ।
स्वयं प्राप्ते परिभवो भवतीति विनिश्चयः ॥१३॥
13. satyaśca lokavādo'yaṁ loke carati suvratāḥ ,
svayaṁ prāpte paribhavo bhavatīti viniścayaḥ.
13. satyaḥ ca lokavādaḥ ayam loke carati suvratāḥ
svayam prāpte paribhavaḥ bhavati iti viniścayaḥ

13. O virtuous ones, this common saying is indeed current in the world: 'When humiliation comes upon oneself, it is a certainty.'
