महाभारतः mahābhārataḥ - book-13, chapter-34, verse-24

यथा महार्णवे क्षिप्त आमलोष्टो विनश्यति ।
तथा दुश्चरितं कर्म पराभावाय कल्पते ॥२४॥

24. Just as a lump of unbaked earth, when thrown into the great ocean, perishes, similarly, evil actions (karma) lead to ruin.
