महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-13, chapter-154, verse-12

ततोऽस्य विधिवच्चक्रुः पितृमेधं महात्मनः ।
याजका जुहुवुश्चाग्निं जगुः सामानि सामगाः ॥१२॥
12. tato'sya vidhivaccakruḥ pitṛmedhaṁ mahātmanaḥ ,
yājakā juhuvuścāgniṁ jaguḥ sāmāni sāmagāḥ.
12. tataḥ asya vidhivat cakruḥ pitṛmedham mahātmanaḥ
yājakāḥ juhuvuḥ ca agnim jaguḥ sāmāni sāmagāḥ

12. Then they performed his ancestral funeral rites (pitṛmedha) according to the sacred law for the great-souled one (mahātman). The priests offered oblations into the fire, and the Sāman singers chanted the Sāman melodies.
