महाभारतः mahābhārataḥ - book-12, chapter-58, verse-20

यच्चास्य कार्यं वृजिनमार्जवेनैव धार्यते ।
दम्भनार्थाय लोकस्य धर्मिष्ठामाचरेत्क्रियाम् ॥२०॥

20. yaccāsya kāryaṁ vṛjinamārjavenaiva dhāryate ,
dambhanārthāya lokasya dharmiṣṭhāmācaretkriyām.

20. And whatever wicked action of his is performed with straightforwardness, he should (also) perform the most righteous (dharma) act for the purpose of misleading the people.
