महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-10, chapter-17, verse-15

स भूतान्यसृजत्सप्त दक्षादींस्तु प्रजापतीन् ।
यैरिमं व्यकरोत्सर्वं भूतग्रामं चतुर्विधम् ॥१५॥
15. sa bhūtānyasṛjatsapta dakṣādīṁstu prajāpatīn ,
yairimaṁ vyakarotsarvaṁ bhūtagrāmaṁ caturvidham.
15. saḥ bhūtāni asṛjat sapta dakṣa-ādīn tu prajāpatīn
yaiḥ imam vyakarot sarvam bhūta-grāmam catur-vidham
15. saḥ sapta bhūtāni ca dakṣa-ādīn prajāpatīn tu asṛjat
yaiḥ imam sarvam catur-vidham bhūta-grāmam vyakarot
15. He created seven beings—namely, the Prajāpatis headed by Dakṣa—by whom he diversified this entire four-fold aggregate of creatures.
