महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-1, chapter-32, verse-25

सुपर्णं च सखायं वै भगवानमरोत्तमः ।
प्रादादनन्ताय तदा वैनतेयं पितामहः ॥२५॥
25. suparṇaṁ ca sakhāyaṁ vai bhagavānamarottamaḥ ,
prādādanantāya tadā vainateyaṁ pitāmahaḥ.
25. suparṇam ca sakhāyam vai bhagavān amarottamaḥ
prādāt anantāya tadā vainateyam pitāmahaḥ
25. And then, Lord Brahmā, the revered grandfather and best among immortals, indeed gave Vainateya (Garuda) as a friend to Ananta.
