महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-1, chapter-32, verse-19

इमां महीं शैलवनोपपन्नां ससागरां साकरपत्तनां च ।
त्वं शेष सम्यक्चलितां यथावत्संगृह्य तिष्ठस्व यथाचला स्यात् ॥१९॥
19. imāṁ mahīṁ śailavanopapannāṁ; sasāgarāṁ sākarapattanāṁ ca ,
tvaṁ śeṣa samyakcalitāṁ yathāva;tsaṁgṛhya tiṣṭhasva yathācalā syāt.
19. imām mahīm śailavanopapannām
sasāgarām sākarapattanām ca | tvam
śeṣa samyak calitām yathāvat
saṃgṛhya tiṣṭhasva yathā acalā syāt
19. O Śeṣa, you must properly sustain this Earth, which is furnished with mountains and forests, with its oceans and cities, and which has become thoroughly agitated, so that it may remain steady.
