teṣāṁ tu bhagavāñśeṣastyaktvā kadrūṁ mahāyaśāḥ ,

Sūta said: But among them, the highly renowned and venerable Shesha, having abandoned Kadru, undertook great austerities, subsisting on air and disciplined in his vows.
