Just as water (ambu), by its intrinsic fluid nature (dravatva), though appearing in various forms (nānāvṛttitayā) from the ocean (abdhī) of the heart (hṛd), is actually non-diverse (anānā eva) even while manifesting as diversity (nānā); similarly, in the consciousness-space (cit-vyoma) that is the Self (ātman), diversity (nānā) indeed arises, yet it remains essentially non-diverse (anānā eva).
