तद्धमं प्रविवेशाथ शाक्रतेजोऽपचारतः ।
निस्तेजाश्चाभवच्छक्रो धर्मे तेजसि निर्गते ॥२॥

Then, due to the transgression related to Indra's power (tejas), that intrinsic nature (dharma) [of the sin] took hold within him. And Indra became devoid of power (tejas) when his own righteousness (dharma) and splendor (tejas) had both departed.
