अज्ञानाद्धोमधेनुस्ते प्रसीद त्वं च नो मुने ॥२२॥

22.
O sage, I killed your sacrificial cow (homadhenu), which should not be slain, mistakenly thinking it was a wild ox. Please be appeased and forgive us for this act of ignorance.
