महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-8, chapter-13, verse-8

नरांश्च कार्ष्णायसवर्मभूषणान्निपात्य साश्वानपि पत्तिभिः सह ।
व्यपोथयद्दन्तिवरेण शुष्मिणा सशब्दवत्स्थूलनडान्यथा तथा ॥८॥
8. narāṁśca kārṣṇāyasavarmabhūṣaṇā;nnipātya sāśvānapi pattibhiḥ saha ,
vyapothayaddantivareṇa śuṣmiṇā; saśabdavatsthūlanaḍānyathā tathā.

nipātya sa-aśvān api pattibhiḥ saha
vyapothayat danti-vareṇa śuṣmiṇā

8. Having thrown down men adorned with iron armor, and also horses along with foot soldiers, he crushed them with his powerful, excellent elephant, loudly, just as thick reeds are (crushed).
