महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-27, verse-15

कुञ्जरस्येव संग्रामेऽपरिगृह्याङ्कुशग्रहम् ।
ब्राह्मणैर्विप्रहीणस्य क्षत्रस्य क्षीयते बलम् ॥१५॥
15. kuñjarasyeva saṁgrāme'parigṛhyāṅkuśagraham ,
brāhmaṇairviprahīṇasya kṣatrasya kṣīyate balam.
15. kuñjarasya iva saṃgrāme aparigṛhya aṅkuśagraham
brāhmaṇaiḥ viprahīṇasya kṣatrasya kṣīyate balam
15. Just like an elephant in battle that has no mahout (goad-holder) to control it, the strength of a Kshatriya who is deprived of Brahmins wastes away.
