Then, the experts in sacred formulas (mantra) performed all those rites (kriyā) and practices which are taught by Bṛhaspati and Uśanas, proclaimed in the Atharvaveda, and found in the Upaniṣads, all of them combined with the chanting (jāpya) of sacred formulas (mantra).
