महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-1, chapter-72, verse-16

देवयान्युवाच ।
यदि मां धर्मकामार्थे प्रत्याख्यास्यसि चोदितः ।
ततः कच न ते विद्या सिद्धिमेषा गमिष्यति ॥१६॥
16. devayānyuvāca ,
yadi māṁ dharmakāmārthe pratyākhyāsyasi coditaḥ ,
tataḥ kaca na te vidyā siddhimeṣā gamiṣyati.
16. devayānī uvāca yadi mām dharma-kāma-arthe pratyākhyāsyasi
coditaḥ tataḥ kaca na te vidyā siddhim eṣā gamiṣyati
16. Devayani said: If, being prompted, you reject me for the sake of dharma and love, then, Kaca, your knowledge will not bear fruit.
