सूत उवाच ।
यदधीतं पुरा सम्यग्द्विजश्रेष्ठ महात्मभिः ।
वैशंपायनविप्राद्यैस्तैश्चापि कथितं पुरा ॥४॥

yadadhītaṁ purā samyagdvijaśreṣṭha mahātmabhiḥ ,
vaiśaṁpāyanaviprādyaistaiścāpi kathitaṁ purā.

4. sūtaḥ uvāca yat adhītam purā samyak dvijaśreṣṭha mahātmabhiḥ
vaiśaṃpāyana-vipra-ādyaiḥ taiḥ ca api kathitam purā

4. Sūta said: "That which was properly studied in ancient times by great souls, O best among the twice-born, and which was also narrated previously by sages headed by Vaiśampāyana..."

4. הסוּטַה אמר, הו מיטב הבְּרַהְמִינִים, אספר לך את מה שלמדו היטב בעבר בעלי הנפש הגדולה, וַישַׁמְפָּאיַנַה והבְּרַהְמִינִים שכמותו, ואת מה שהם עצמם סיפרו בעבר,
