महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-1, chapter-202, verse-17

पृथिव्यां ये तपःसिद्धा दान्ताः शमपरायणाः ।
तयोर्भयाद्दुद्रुवुस्ते वैनतेयादिवोरगाः ॥१७॥
17. pṛthivyāṁ ye tapaḥsiddhā dāntāḥ śamaparāyaṇāḥ ,
tayorbhayāddudruvuste vainateyādivoragāḥ.
17. pṛthivyām ye tapaḥsiddhāḥ dāntāḥ śamaparāyaṇāḥ
tayoḥ bhayāt dudruvuḥ te vainateyāt iva uragāḥ
17. Those on earth who had perfected themselves through austerity (tapas), were self-controlled, and whose highest pursuit was peace, they fled from fear of those two [demons], just as serpents flee from Garuda (Vainateya).
