वाल्मीकि-रामायणम्       vālmīki-rāmāyaṇam - book-6, chapter-21, verse-18

तत्रत्र प्रतिपत्स्यामि ज्ञात्वा तेषां बलाबलम् ।
अवश्यं बलसंख्यानं कर्तव्यं युद्धमिच्छता ॥१८॥
18. tatratra pratipatsyāmi jñātvā teṣāṃ balābalam ,
avaśyaṃ balasaṃkhyānaṃ kartavyaṃ yuddhamicchatā.
18. tatra atra pratipatsyāmi jñātvā teṣām balābalam
avaśyam balasaṅkhyānam kartavyam yuddham icchatā
18. After knowing their strengths and weaknesses, I will then act accordingly. Indeed, an assessment of strength must be made by one who desires battle.
