वाल्मीकि-रामायणम्       vālmīki-rāmāyaṇam - book-1, chapter-8, verse-2

चिन्तयानस्य तस्यैवं बुद्धिरासीन्महात्मनः ।
सुतार्थं वाजिमेधेन किमर्थं न यजाम्यहम् ॥२॥
2. cintayānasya tasyaivaṃ buddhirāsīnmahātmanaḥ ,
sutārthaṃ vājimedhena kimarthaṃ na yajāmyaham.

sutārtham vājimedhena kimartham na yajāmi aham

2. As that great-souled one (ātman) was thus contemplating, an idea came to him: "Why do I not perform the horse Vedic ritual (yajña) for the sake of a son?"
