वाल्मीकि-रामायणम्       vālmīki-rāmāyaṇam - book-1, chapter-38, verse-25

भगवन्पृथिवी सर्वा खन्यते सगरात्मजैः ।
बहवश्च महात्मानो वध्यन्ते जलचारिणः ॥२५॥
25. bhagavanpṛthivī sarvā khanyate sagarātmajaiḥ ,
bahavaśca mahātmāno vadhyante jalacāriṇaḥ.

25. O revered one, the entire earth is being dug up by the sons of Sagara. And many great souls (ātman), who are water-dwellers, are being killed.
