वाल्मीकि-रामायणम्       vālmīki-rāmāyaṇam - book-1, chapter-32, verse-17

अपतिश्चास्मि भद्रं ते भार्या चास्मि न कस्य चित् ।
ब्राह्मेणोपगतायाश्च दातुमर्हसि मे सुतम् ॥१७॥
17. apatiścāsmi bhadraṃ te bhāryā cāsmi na kasya cit ,
brāhmeṇopagatāyāśca dātumarhasi me sutam.
17. apatiḥ ca asmi bhadram te bhāryā ca asmi na kasya
cit brāhmeṇa upagatāyāḥ ca dātum arhasi me sutam
17. (aham) apatiḥ ca asmi; te bhadram (astu); ca (aham) kasya cit bhāryā na asmi.
(ataḥ) brāhmeṇa upagatāyāḥ ca me sutam dātum arhasi
17. I am without a husband—may good fortune be yours—and I am not anyone's wife. Therefore, you ought to give a son to me, who has approached you by divine (brahman) means.
