सृणु मैत्रेय तत्त्वेन ब्रह्मगर्गादिभाषितम् ॥१॥

And now, I will explain to you the results pertaining to the house of action (karma). Listen carefully, Maitreya, to the essence of what has been spoken by Brahmā, Garga, and other sages.
