महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-9, chapter-48, verse-12

तत्र निर्जित्य संग्रामे मानुषान्दैवतांस्तथा ।
वरं क्रतुं समाजह्रे वरुणः परवीरहा ॥१२॥
12. tatra nirjitya saṁgrāme mānuṣāndaivatāṁstathā ,
varaṁ kratuṁ samājahre varuṇaḥ paravīrahā.

12. Then, having conquered both humans and gods in battle, Varuna, the vanquisher of enemy heroes, performed an excellent Vedic ritual (yajña).
