महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-7, chapter-62, verse-16

तेषां तत्तादृशं कर्म त्वामासाद्य सुनिष्फलम् ।
यत्पित्र्याद्भ्रंशिता राज्यात्त्वयेहामिषगृद्धिना ॥१६॥
16. teṣāṁ tattādṛśaṁ karma tvāmāsādya suniṣphalam ,
yatpitryādbhraṁśitā rājyāttvayehāmiṣagṛddhinā.
16. teṣām tat tādṛśam karma tvām āsādya suniṣphalam yat
pitryāt bhraṃśitāḥ rājyāt tvayā iha āmiṣagṛddhinā
16. tvām āsādya teṣām tat tādṛśam karma suniṣphalam yat
iha tvayā āmiṣagṛddhinā pitryāt rājyāt bhraṃśitāḥ
16. All those deeds (karma) of theirs became entirely fruitless when they encountered you, because they were displaced from their ancestral kingdom here by you, who are greedy for worldly possessions.
