महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-5, chapter-72, verse-23

अहमेतद्ब्रवीम्येवं राजा चैव प्रशंसति ।
अर्जुनो नैव युद्धार्थी भूयसी हि दयार्जुने ॥२३॥
23. ahametadbravīmyevaṁ rājā caiva praśaṁsati ,
arjuno naiva yuddhārthī bhūyasī hi dayārjune.
23. aham etat bravīmi evam rājā ca eva praśaṃsati
arjunaḥ na eva yuddhārthī bhūyasī hi dayā arjune
23. I state this, and the king (Yudhishthira) also approves. Arjuna is certainly not desirous of war, for indeed, great compassion (dayā) resides in Arjuna.
