महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-5, chapter-72, verse-19

तस्मान्मृदु शनैरेनं ब्रूया धर्मार्थसंहितम् ।
कामानुबन्धबहुलं नोग्रमुग्रपराक्रमम् ॥१९॥
19. tasmānmṛdu śanairenaṁ brūyā dharmārthasaṁhitam ,
kāmānubandhabahulaṁ nogramugraparākramam.

19. Therefore, one should speak to him gently and slowly, with words that are conducive to natural law (dharma) and material prosperity (artha), and that incorporate abundant elements appealing to desire (kāma), but not with harshness or a show of formidable power.
